All About Granada

All About Spain

The view from Julia's window where Pierre got a peek at the Granada skyline and mountains.
03 04
After the delicious "cena", Pierre joined his amigas for a night time stroll through a neighborhood called "El Albaicin". He hopped all the way to the "Mirada de San Nicolas" where you can see the Alhambra (an ancient palace) all lit up at night. After all that hopping he needed a rest on Julia's knee!
Prince Pierre is welcomed by Julia and his new amigas at his first "cena" (dinner). He really enjoyed the crepes with strawberries and chocolate filling! He made a note to tell the royal chef the recipe.

Pierre relaxes at the hotel after a long trip from Granada to Madrid after leaving at 6am and arriving at 8:30pm. Pierre and Julia stopped off at El Escorial de San Lorenzo and the city of Segovia, both of which are just outside of Madrid.
At El Escorial, Pierre was amazed at the buildings. He saw where most of the kings and queens of Spain are buried and the bed in which King Ferdinand passed away.

Pierre hopped onto the gate of the Palacio Real (Royal Palace) asking to be let in. Pierre's "ancestors" could have stayed here since Spain was ruled by France for some time by the brother of Napoleon, Jose I Bonaparte after the invasion of Spain by Napoleon.
Julia and Pierre at the Jardines del Palacio Real (Gardens of the Royal Palace) where they had a chance to tomar un poquito del sol conmigo (catch a little sun/sunbathe with me)
09 10
Prince Pierre and Julia braved the winds of the beach at Chiclana, a city iutside of Cadiz. Julia had to hold onto him so he wouldn't fly away while trying to hop across the sand. Julia tested the water and it was freezing. Pierre simply watched. (Not exactly beach weather, he reminded her.)
Julia and Pierre are ready for Carnival in Cadiz. Julia had on her costume... Pierre's always in custume! It's a special time as the people welcome Spring.

Prince Pierre was a "guest lecturer" and talked about "What's 'Hoppening'Around the Lilypads of Spain." He was in Aula 15 (Classroom 15) where Julia and her friends have classes.
Pierre made a new friend at Carnival on the first night. His name is Teddy and he showed Pierre how to have a good time. Pierre was able to borrow some "fluff" to dress up his costume.
¡Nos divertimos mucho! (We had a lot of fun!)
Prince Pierre was Julia's guest at the Centro de Lenguas Modernas which is run by the Universidad de Granada.

On our way home from Portugal (see those pictures here), we stopped in Merida, where we saw the oldest conserved Roman ruins in Spain. This is the coliseum where the Romans held games and had specific rooms to hold lions that they would let loose.
We visited the Anfiteatro (amphitheater) where Pierre and Julia took center stage. Pierre wanted to put on an entire play for the group, but there wasn't enough time for that...

Pierre made another new friend while in Granada. He talked Pierre into going home to Connecticut with him...

Prince Pierre says. "¡Muchas Gracias!" to Julia for providing him with a great trip and new found knowledge and wishes her Buena suerte !
If they had a statue of a Roman Goddess and her pet frog.... this is what it would look like!!
I wonder where Pierre's off to next?
Looks like...Portugal!
